Nominations Open for Genius Within's Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards

Nominations for the Genius Within Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards are open.

The awards recognise and celebrate the successes and achievements of the Neurodiverse and Neurodivergent community, and work to support it.

Anyone can nominate individuals, organisations or projects that smash expectations, bust stereotypes and go above and beyond to promote accessibility and inclusion.

Broadcaster, podcaster and best-selling author Nicky Campbell is to host the 2023 event alongside his daughter Kirsty Campbell. The pair both have ADHD, and it was Kirsty’s diagnosis at the age of 15 that led Nicky to explore his own ADHD traits aged 60.

The duo will share personal reflections as part of the hybrid awards ceremony being held in person in London and streamed online on September 28.

The categories for the 2023 Awards are:

· Best Assistive Technology

· Inclusion Project of the Year

· Inclusive Education Provider

· Inclusive Employer

· ND Achiever of the Year (aged 21+)

· ND Young Achiever of the Year (aged under 21)

· Neurodiversity Research of the Year

· Rising Star Award

· Stereotype Buster

“We know all too well that neurodivergent people spend too much time being defined by their perceived deficits and not enough time identifying and celebrating their many strengths and successes,” said Jacqui Wallis, CEO of Genius Within, a social enterprise founded in 2011 to reframe the negative stereotypes that neurominorities often live with, focusing instead on their unique talents and strengths.

“We need your help to shine a light on those individuals, organisations and projects that go the extra mile and make a difference to the neurodivergent community.

“Whether it be a dyslexic entrepreneur who is providing accessible education to others or a community centre with a disability led theatre project, we love challenging the stereotypes that are so pervasive about the abilities of those with non-visible disabilities.”
