The 2022 Purple Sock Day campaign is up and running...
You can get your special edition purple socks from today – ready to wear in support of International Day of Persons with Disability on December 3.
Now in its second year, Purple Sock Day is a specific campaign to help kick-start disability owned businesses and help disabled entrepreneurs.
Last year UK sock buyers bought more than 8,000 pairs of socks, raising more than £40k. This year, the scheme’s founders, Claudia and Andrew Douglass, aim to beat that total to provide even more opportunities.
The couple run Parallel Lifestyle, a social enterprise dedicated to supporting D/deaf and disabled people to live to the full in mainstream society.
The couple have teamed up again with the pioneering sustainable activewear brand, BAM, and the UK’s leading enterprise support charity, Hatch Enterprise, for Purple Sock Day 2022.
“Purple Sock Day is where we ask businesses, public and other organisations to buy our official purple socks; wear them on The International Day of Disabled People and share pictures / film on social media,” explained Andrew.
“This creates a united act of mass participation and solidarity for disability inclusion, helps raise positive awareness and creates social impact.”
