Parallel’s Partners Backing Windsor 2024

National inclusive sports event and festival Parallel Windsor is back and Living with Disability is proud to support this year’s event as a media partner.

Whatever your level of fitness and mobility, Parallel Windsor’s flagship summer event has been specially designed for people to start together but finish whenever.

You can join in and run, walk, wander, push or pull along Windsor Great Park’s stunning Long Mile in a truly inclusive event on Sunday, July 7.

The leading antiperspirant brand, Sure, will continue its support for the event and, in partnership with Parallel, for a more inclusive world where everyone has the confidence to move more.

Parallel’s flagship event aims to challenge everyone to get moving by taking part in a range of multiple running, walking, and pushing distances, including 100m, 1K, 5K and 10K.

It also features the SuperSensory 1k, supporting neurodiverse people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to exercise their senses over a series of challenges, such as responding to sound, taste, and touch.

An integral part of the Parallel Windsor experience is an inclusive festival which features an outdoor stage for live music and a range of family entertainment which includes arts and crafts, storytelling, inclusive sport, active lifestyle, cookery, wellbeing and dance.

There will also be food and drink from around the world, a community picnic area, quiet space and a sensory zone.

Parallel Windsor is about joyful movement in your own time and style,” said Andrew Douglass, Founder of Parallel.

“The chances of maintaining a regular routine of movement are much better when we are having fun doing it, rather than feeling like we are being punished.

“The opportunity to continue our work with Sure as our headline partner gives us huge potential to break limits by moving disability inclusion from the margins of communities to mainstream society. It also enables us to turn up the volume to encourage everybody of all ages and abilities to challenge themselves and get active.

As well as supporting Parallel, Sure is supporting inclusivity through the Sure Breaking Limits Programme which equips young people with the confidence and opportunity to move however they want. The programme supports youth sports organisations whose members face the biggest barriers to being active – including barriers due to disabilities.

“Sure is committed to inspiring confidence in everyone to move more and believes no one should be held back from breaking a sweat and enjoying the transformative benefits of movement,” said Alice Duffill, Brand Manager of Sure.

There are 11.5 million people in the UK living with some form of disability, yet, only two in five (40%) feel they are given the opportunity to be as active as they would like to be. We’re excited to be continuing our partnership with Parallel to help ensure people with disabilities have the opportunity to move more and create positive social change across disabled communities.
