Charities Win More Pedal Power

Three charities across the UK are set to benefit from a new electric tricycle after being selected as winners of Jorvik Tricycles’ community giveaway.

Following a nationwide competition inviting charities and community organisations to nominate themselves, Jorvik Tricycles has selected Shopmobility York, Monty’s Bike Hub in Southampton and Cycling 4 All in Wrexham as its three winners.

Each organisation will receive an adult electric tricycle worth £1,000 to support its work and make cycling more accessible to the people it serves.

Entries were judged on the impact each organisation has in its local community, how a tricycle could enhance its work, and how it would support its wider aims.

The giveaway was launched as part of Jorvik’s commitment to making cycling more accessible and helping more people experience the freedom and independence it can offer. 

“We are thrilled to have been awarded a Jorvik Tricycle,” said Karen Balmer, Trustee of Cycling 4.

“As a small charity serving communities across North Wales and the border counties, we are committed to providing inclusive cycling opportunities for people of all abilities.

“This valuable addition to our fleet will enable more disabled and disadvantaged individuals to access cycling, helping them enjoy the independence, social inclusion and improved wellbeing that cycling can provide.”

Jorvik Tricycles was founded after owner James Walker (pictured above) began building tricycles for his father. What started as a passion project, fuelled by love, grew into a business dedicated to making cycling more accessible, which remains a central part of the company's ethos.

“We were delighted by the response to our giveaway, and it was fantastic to see so many organisations getting involved,” said James.

“The work Shopmobility York, Monty’s Bike Hub and Cycling 4 All are doing is truly inspiring, and we’re really happy to support their work. It’s a privilege to help organisations making a difference in their local communities through initiatives like this.”

The three winning organisations will now put their new tricycles to use in their local communities, helping more people access cycling and the benefits it can bring.
