Coinciding with her latest amazing fundraising achievement Mary Lamb has been awarded LWD’s Fundraising Hero Award.
The amazing 67-year-old has just completed the Trans Pennine Trail in her wheelchair. Accompanied by her assistance dog, Sheldon, she successfully negotiated the 215-mile coast-to-coast journey in nine days.
Mary, who became so depressed by her disability that she could not leave her home, has raised more than £50,000 for Dogs for Good, after the charity matched her with Yan, a black collie cross Labrador in 2013.
Since then, Mary has had two other dogs and has been a huge advocate of the charity, delivering hundreds of talks, holding raffles and running fundraising stalls to raise money for the Oxfordshire based charity.
She has also undertaken some astonishing challenges, including riding the longest zip wire in Europe, an indoor sky diving challenge, a 100k walk and most notably she conquered the Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) with help from an army support team.

“Mary is an inspiration, struggling with constant pain but always pushing herself to raise money for the charity which she says has saved her life,” said Jackie Bailey, Dogs for Good Senior Communications Manager.
