A learning-disabled artist who creates a unique theatrical experience every night in ‘Perfect Show for Rachel’ will be appearing at the Brighton Festival from May 4 to 7.
Rachel O’Mahony (pictured far right) is a theatre-loving, enigmatic 33-year-old who loves Kylie Minogue, heckling from the front row and seeing people falling over.

She’s also the tour-de-force behind the highly acclaimed ‘Perfect Show for Rachel’, sitting on stage behind a custom-built tech desk directing every performance in real-time.

‘Perfect Show for Rachel’ was created by Rachel’s younger sister Flo O’Mahony, the Artistc Director of Zoo Co, a theatre company of disabled and non-disabled artists who embed accessibility in their productions, working with Improbable, a pioneering company of improvisers and theatre-makers.Â

Rachel herself sits at a control desk – seen on a screen by the audience - with 39 colourful buzzers, each of which represents a different scene, song or game that the company has created in collaboration with her.
The original production of ‘Perfect Show for Rachel’ won the 2022 Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award and the Off West End Award for Best Access.
All performances of ‘Perfect Show for Rachel’ at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange are Relaxed Performances.
They also include a mixture of creative captioning and integrated BSL, meaning it will be accessible for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences. There will be an Audio Described performance on May 6.
