The founder of a company showcasing a range of gripping aids for those with reduced hand function has pitched for investment on the BBC One’s Dragons’ Den.
Rob Smith MBE, from the Active Hands Company, created the company after a spinal cord injury in 1996. Frustrated by how his affected hands prevented him from holding gym equipment, he created a range of gripping aids to hold his hands securely around objects needed for daily living.
Today the company’s products support people to work out, cook and eat with independence, tackle personal care tasks and enjoy hobbies such as gardening and fishing.
Rob and his colleague Jo (pictured above) appeared on Dragons’ Den to ask for investment in their company to help spread the word of their gripping solutions and create further growth for their company.
“I really enjoyed the experience and the chance to talk about the business our team have been working so hard to build for so many years,” said Rob.
We can’t share the outcome, but you can catch their episode on BBC One on February 19 at 8pm, or afterwards on demand on iPlayer. @BBC @BBCiPlayer
