A competition for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs has been launched to create a mascot for Naidex Junior.
The UK's leading event for disability, accessibility, and independent living, is developing a dedicated, free-to-access hub focused entirely on the needs of disabled children and young people for next year’s Naidex.
To promote the initiative organisers are calling on young artists and creative minds to create a unique character that will be the friendly face of Naidex Junior 2026, a place of inclusion, independence, and discovery for every child.
The event will connect families, guardians, carers, healthcare professionals, and educators with the latest paediatric equipment, essential services, and invaluable support, all in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
The competition to design a mascot is open to all children and young people with disabilities or additional needs, aged 18 and under.
In creating a character the organisers would like you to think about what accessibility means to you, what makes you feel included, what makes you feel independent and what kind of character would make everyone feel welcome and happy at Naidex Junior.
The design can be a drawing, painting or digital artwork and in any format.
The winning design will be brought to life as the official Naidex Junior Mascot and the winner and their family/guardian will receive a trip to Naidex 2026 (March 25-26,) at the NEC in Birmingham, with travel expenses paid and a special meet-and-greet with their mascot.
Deadline for entries is September 12 and details on how to enter are available at https://www.naidex.co.uk/naidex-junior-mascot-competition
