The Wheelchair Alliance has launched its three-year strategy which aims to promote access, innovation and equity in wheelchair provision.
In creating its new three-year strategy the Alliance, a community interest company (CIC) dedicated to improving the lives of wheelchair users, has outlined a three-point plan to listen, to champion and to innovate.
This will be actioned through listening and collaborating with wheelchair users on wheelchair provision, while championing national accountability for wheelchair provision via research, lobbying and campaigning.
The CIC will also support innovation of equipment and services for the benefit of wheelchair users via collaboration with key stakeholders.
Together, these goals set the direction of the organisation, ensuring that all of its work contributes to the Alliance’s single vision of all wheelchair users in the UK having the right chair, at the right time, right now.
“We are immensely proud of everything that we have achieved so far,” said Nick Goldup (pictured above), CEO of the Alliance.
“This includes getting the government to commit to reviewing outdated legislation on the use of powered wheelchairs, the launch of a new Quality Framework and the inauguration of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Wheelchair Users.
“However, we can't stay still. Our volunteers work tirelessly to pursue the vision and the mission of the Alliance, with the aim of improving the lives of wheelchair users everywhere.
“This is why strategy is so important. It reminds us of our 'why' and sets out plans, intentions and goals for the future, while keeping the momentum going. Driving change forward is key and we look forward to delivering our new strategy to the benefit of wheelchair users throughout the UK.”
