Free Webinar on Stoma & Spinal Cord Injury

A leading law firm is hosting a free two-part webinar series to provide vital information and different perspectives around stomas with a spinal cord injury (SCI).

The series will offer helpful insight for healthcare professionals and carers, as well as guidance for those with a spinal cord injury, who may be considering having a stoma fitted, or interested to hear more about having a stoma and a SCI.

The webinars hosted by specialist law firm Bolt Burdon Kemp will feature perspectives from both experts and those with lived experience:

  • Wednesday 7 May, 12pm: SCI & Stoma – The Medical Perspective

Professor Anton Emmanuel, Consultant Gastroenterologist, will explain the medical advantages and disadvantages, potential complications, and aftercare for getting a stoma fitted after a SCI.

  • Wednesday 14 May, 1pm: SCI & Stoma – Considerations from Lived Experience

Anthony Burton and Harry Langley, who both have a SCI, will share their personal experience of either deciding to have a stoma fitted, or not, and what led them to their decision.

The series aims to raise awareness, support best practice in patient care, and foster better understanding across the medical and SCI communities.

"Living with a spinal cord injury can come with difficult decisions and challenges, especially around the fitting of a stoma,” said Victoria Oliver, Head of the Spinal Injury Team at Bolt Burdon Kemp (pictured above).

“Through this webinar series, we hope to empower both patients and healthcare professionals with knowledge, insight, and practical advice."

The webinars are free to attend but registration is required. To sign up, please email: webinars@bbkllp.co.uk
