Disabled Gym Goers the Focus for Award Winning Photographer

London based Photographer Pete Muller has won a top award for his series of images showing men with either prosthetic legs or with one leg training in the gym.

Called ‘Gymstars’ the images won silver in the Sport category of the prestigious Association of Photographers (AOP) 38th Photography Awards.

“These guys are avid gym goers and don't let anything stand in their way,” said Pete.

“It was an inspiration to meet them and watch them train, they don't hold back. No excuses for any of us.

“I have always been a sporty person and I love to still work with sportspeople. I have a great appreciation of what the human body can achieve, how it can move and the shapes it creates and I love to capture this in the most dynamic way.”

The AOP was set up by a group of photographers in 1968. Today it is the leading organisation for photographers and image-makers working in the creative industries.

Its membership has included some of the most influential photographers in the history of the art form. For over 50 years, members’ work has appeared in advertising and brand campaigns, books, newspapers, magazines, broadcast, exhibitions and cultural events the world over.

Reproduction of the images is permitted by the Association of Photographers in connection with the 38th AOP Photography Awards, on behalf of the copyright owner © Photographer Pete Muller, June 2023.
