A Berkshire charity has marked a decade of bringing smiles to local disabled children and their families through accessible play facilities.
Swings & Smiles brought together its patrons, supporters, families and volunteers to mark the special milestone at its 10th birthday party.
The party celebrated 10 years since the first family walked through the doors of the Swings & Smiles centre in Thatcham.
The charity provides accessible play spaces and equipment for disabled children and their families as well as respite care and support for siblings.
TV presenter Chris Tarrant, who acts as a patron for the charity, also attended the event to meet Swings & Smiles’ families.
“I’m a parent to a child with complex needs myself, which is what inspired me to create Swings & Smiles knowing there’s a huge need for accessible play facilities where every child - no matter their requirements - can play freely,” said the charity’s founder Sian Cook.
“Swings & Smiles’ services have made a tremendous impact on so many local families, and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved.
‘I’m really looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for us, especially with our new 14 to 19 service launching. This will give older children a chance to make new connections during their formative years.”
