Blue Badge Access Awards 2025-26

ree

Nominations are open for the Blue Badge Access Awards (BBAA) 2025-2026.

Rewarding exceptional accessibility and inclusivity shown by venues, organisations and people, in the hospitality sector and beyond, the categories range from Best Bar and Best Historic Building to Best Accessible Home.

Once again, by popular demand, the ‘Ludicrous Loo’ Award returns to name and shames bad disabled toilets, like the one where the chef parks his bike or the one that’s used as a storage area for food!

The organisers are keen to set the gold standard by encouraging places to get accessibility right for disabled people and making it both stylish, thoughtful and innovative.

“We are looking for nominations from members of the public, venues or organisations,” said Fiona Jarvis CEO of Blue Badge Style & Co-Founder of the BBAA (pictured above).

“You can nominate your own business if you think you’ve got what it takes. The Blue Badge Access Awards are about exceeding the expectations of disabled people and to give recognition to businesses and establishments that have addressed accessibility imaginatively and thoughtfully.

“The very definition of hospitality is to welcome, and this is at the very heart of the BBAA. Unfortunately, we still see bad examples of accessibility such as a ‘Ludicrous Loo’ or ‘Ridiculous Ramp’.

“There is also a growing demand for homes that are both accessible and stylish as the population ages and people want more than just a ramp and a few grab rails.

“Futureproof, stylish designs – a ‘Right of Passage’ - are a rarity when it comes to home building. You may use a wheelchair, be neuro diverse or have partial sight or hearing, and your only form of self-expression is your home especially if you spend most of your time there. Hence our Best Accessible Home Award.”

Nominations close on April 5, 2026, with the awards ceremony on April 30, 2026, at South Place Hotel London. For further information visit https://bluebadgeaccessawards.com/nominate/
